Changing / Past Exhibitions at the de Young Musuem
"Warhol Live"
"Warhol Live" was
fantastic — one of our favorite all-time exhibits! We've
seen several Warhol exhibits over the years, but this was by far
the most extensive — and the best yet. The exhibit
explored, for the first time, the role of music in the work and life
of Andy Warhol. Many of Warhol's famous works of
art were displayed — Elvis, Mick Jagger, Liza Minnelli,
Michael Jackson, Grace Jones... the Campbell's Soup Can and Brillo
Boxes — in addition to his album covers (including the
infamous "Sticky Fingers" Rolling Stones album),
illustrations, photographs, Polaroids... and more!
"Yves Saint Laurent"
The "Yves
Saint Laurent" exhibit featured over 120 Yves Saint
Laurent haute couture garments (including the famous Jean
Paul Gaultier cone bra worn by Madonna), accessories
and sketches of Yves Saint Laurent's works. San Francisco
was the exhibit's final destination and its only U.S.
venue.
"Chihuly Exhibition"
"Chihuly" was one of the museum's most popular
exhibits in 2008 — and another of our all-time favorites.
The amazing Chihuly
Exhibit, showcased Dale Chihuly's magnificent glass
art works. The photo below features his beautiful "Towering
Purple Reeds."
