Annual Academy Awards
The annual Academy Awards usually take place in February or March at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, CA.
In January 2012, the rules changed to allow anywhere from 5-10 Best-Picture Nominees — 9 movies were nominated. Previously (in 2010 and 2011), the Oscars switched from five Best-Picture Nominees to 10 — returning
to the traditions of the 1930s and '40s. The broadened movie field
may now include Documentaries, Foreign-Language Films, Animated
