The Capitol
The Capitol is home to the U.S. Congress and its two legislative bodies, the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. Allow plenty of time here — there is a lot to see. If you like history, you'll enjoy taking one of the Guided Tours of the Capitol.

The Capitol is the site of the Presidential "swearing-in" ceremony and it houses the first Congressional Medal of Honor.

On January 20, 2009 Barack Obama's swearing-in ceremony took place there he became the 44th President — and the first African-American — to hold the highest office in America. This historic moment in history drew millions of people to the city — and millions more from around the world watched the event on TV and the Internet.
