Central Park
Strawberry Fields
— "Imagine" Mosaic
Strawberry Fields
Strawberry Fields is located on the West
Side of Central Park, between 71st and 74th Streets.

Garden of Peace
Strawberry Fields (also known
as The Garden of Peace) is named after the Beatles' song, "Stawberry
Fields Forever" in
honor of John
Lennon.
When John Lennon and Yoko
Ono lived in the nearby Dakota, on
72nd Street and Central Park West, they adopted this beautiful
landscape as their favorite oasis in Central Park.
Strawberry Fields was dedicated
by Mayor Edward I. Koch on October 9, 1985— John
Lennon's birthday.
Famous Central Park Statues
Central Park is home to numerous fountains,
historical monuments and famous sculptures.
Four of our favorite statues
are located at Conservatory Water (Alice in Wonderland and Hans
Christian Anderson) and Delacorte Theater (Romeo & Juliet and Prospero & Miranda — two
of Shakespeare's main characters in his play "The
Tempest."

"Imagine" Mosaic
During your visit to Strawberry Fields, be sure to check out
the beautiful circular black-and-white "Imagine" mosaic
along the pathway — a tribute to John Lennon. Fashioned by
Italian craftsmen, it was a gift from Naples, Italy.
Contrary to urban myth, John Lennon is
NOT buried here.
