Thinking of taking a cruise? Check out the Top Cruise Lines before booking your next cruise and see what made Conde Nast Travelers Readers’ Choice Awards list. FYI… over 25,000 readers participated in the survey. For the first time, the Cruise Line category included “mega” ships, often referred to as floating resorts.
Not sure whether to take a small, medium or mega-ship cruise? Keep this in mind: Small-Ship Cruise Lines carry fewer than 500 passengers, Large Ship Cruise Lines carry a minimum of 1,500 passengers and Mega-Ship Cruise Lines carry 2,500+ passengers.
We prefer the small-large ships, however the mega-ships are extremely popular. In December 2009, the Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas (the world’s largest and most innovative cruise ship) set out on its maiden voyage from its home port in Port Everglades, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. I don’t know about you, but a ship with 16 decks and over 5,000 passengers is a little overwhelming. On the bright side, just think of all that exercise you’ll get after eating all that great cruise ship food:)
We’d love to get your comments on your favorite cruise ship lines… and what makes them so special.
