USA wins 33rd America’s Cup in Valencia – way to go!

Congrats Larry Ellison and BMW Oracle Racing Team on sailing to victory and winning the America’s Cup in Valencia. BMW Oracle Racing become the first American team to win the America’s Cup since 1992 when America3 defeated Il Moro de Venezia off San Diego.

The America’s Cup is held every 3-5 years. It’s the third biggest world sporting event behind the Olympics and the World Cup. The winner of the race determines when and where the next America’s Cup will take place. With Oracle’s Larry Ellison hailing from the SF Bay Area, that means there’s a very good chance that the prestigious race could it be held in San Francisco Bay:)

If the race is held in San Francisco, it would be beyond exciting… not to mention profitable. The last race generated $7 billion for the host city.

The America’s Cup trophy will be on display at the Golden Gate Yacht Club, located on the SF waterfront. It’s the first time in 15 years that it will be back on U.S. soil. We can’t wait to see it!
