Piazza di Spagna (Spanish Square)

Be sure to visit the famous Spanish Steps at the Piazza di Spagna. It’s one of Rome’s most recognized landmarks and a popular gathering place for tourists and locals alike. The 138-step staircase includes vistas and terraces, connecting the lower Piazza di Spagna to the 16th-century Trinita dei Monti late Renaissance twin tower church. Grab a seat on a step and watch the world go by. During our visit, we sat there for hours soaking up the sun and relaxing. The prime people-watching spot is a fun place to hang out and take a break between sightseeing visits. Once a popular place for artists, painters and poets, the Spanish Steps was used as a backdrop in the 1953 romantic comedy movie, “Roman Holiday” starring Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck.

Keats-Shelly House

Check out the 17th-century Keats-Shelly House situated on the right side near the base of the Spanish Steps. Once home to English poet John Keats, the museum is dedicated to Keats, fellow poet Percy Shelley and British Romantic poets, and contains memorabilia of that era.
