San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA)
If you like modern art and architecture, don’t miss a visit to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Also referred to as SFMOMA, the museum features a vast collection of modern and contemporary art, photography and sculpture. It’s one of the largest modern and contemporary art museums in the nation. The stunning 7-floor museum includes nearly 45,000 square feet of free public access to its ground-floor art-filled galleries. SFMOMA is one of the city’s most popular museums and a major tourist attraction, drawing visitors from around the world.
Atrium Oculus
SFMOMA’s iconic Atrium Oculus floods the space with natural light. Visitors can walk across the open air bridge walkway, located directly under the dome. Looking up from the walkway is truly spectacular, especially on a sunny blue-sky day.
Featured Artists, Exhibitions and Past Exhibits
Featured artists at SFMOMA have included Henri Matisse, Georgia O-Keefe, Frida Kahlo, Calder, Warhol, and Wayne Thiebaud.
One of our all-time favorite past exhibitions was Andy Warhol – From A to B and Back Again. The collection featured Andy Warhol’s masterpieces, including his self-portraits, the iconic Triple Elvis, Liz Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, Dolly Parton, Marlon Brando, and Jackie Kennedy.
Calder

Pop, Minimal & Figurative Art: The Fisher Collection
Enjoy this colorful exhibition from the renowned Fisher Collection, one of the world’s greatest private collections of postwar and contemporary art. The popular exhibition features important works of American abstraction – Pop, Minimal and Figurative Art.
Sculpture Terrace & Living Wall
SFMOMA’s third-floor outdoor Sculpture Terrace is home to the largest public Living Wall in the nation. The vertical garden wall includes over 19,000 plants and 21 species native to the Bay Area and Northern California.

SFMOMA is located at 151 Third Street in downtown San Francisco. The entrance is on Third Street between Mission and Howard. The museum is within easy walking distance from Moscone Center and Union Square. Nearby parking garage is located on Minna Street.
