The Galleria Borghese
Built in the 17th century, the Galleria Borghese is famous for having one of the most extensive art collections in the world. In addition to the masterpieces of art, the museum also houses a large collection of antiquities and sculptures. See masterpieces by Raffaello, Canova, Caravaggio and Bernini. The opulent Borghese Gallery is located in Villa Borghese, the largest park in central Rome. From Piazza di Spagna, climb the hill and take a short walk through the park to reach the gallery.
Note: Tickets must be purchased in advance for timed entry. The museum is very popular, especially during peak tourist season (Spring/early Summer), so get your tickets early. Open Tuesday-Sunday. Closed Mondays.
