Place des Vosges is one of Paris’ oldest and most beautiful squares, showcasing some of the finest architecture in Europe. In 1954, it was listed as a historic monument. Famed author, Victor Hugo, lived here from 1832 to 1848. Cardinal Richelieu also lived and worked here. The historic square, with its fountains and manicured lawns, is located in the Marais district. It’s an interesting area to explore and hang-out. Visit local art and antique galleries. Pack a picnic lunch or stop by one of the local cafés. It’s also a fun place for people-watching and listening to street musicians performing in the park.
Discover other diverse neighborhoods, all within easy walking distance from the square.
