The 2010 Winter Olympic Games are scheduled to open in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on Friday, February 12th — and will run until Sunday, February 28, 2010. What a great time to visit Vancouver and Whister. Whistler will host most of the alpine, nordic and sliding events. Note: Big air ski and all snowboarding events will be hosted at Cypress Mountain near Vancouver.
The Opening Ceremonies take place at 6pm on Friday, February 12, 2009 at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver. This is the most popular Olympic event – if you are planning to go, buy tickets as soon as possible. The 2010 Games will be the first – Winter or Summer – to have an Opening Ceremony held indoors. Closing Ceremonies will also be held at BC Place Stadium.
Nightly Victory Ceremonies take place 12 nights only (February 14-26) inside Vancouver’s BC Place during the Olympic Games. Enjoy top name entertainment (12 headliners will perform for one night each) and celebrate with the world’s best winter athletes as they receive their medals in figure-skating, speed-skating, snowboarding, freestyle skiing… and the newest Olympic event, ski cross.
Our favorite Winter Olympic Events are Figure-Skating, Snowboarding and Ski-Jumping. What are yours?
