Panoramic SF Views

As we enjoy finding fun things to do in SF, and since it was such a beautiful day, we couldn’t resist taking a ride on the giant ferris wheel – and it didn’t disappoint! From the moment we stepped into our gondola, we knew we were in for a treat.
Wait until you reach the top of the wheel and see the sweeping views of famous San Francisco landmarks. Spectacular!
Sunset is also a magical time to make the most of your experience – and after dark when the wheel transforms into a dazzling light show and the city is illuminated.
SkyStar Gondolas
The SkyStar Wheel features 36 climate-controlled gondolas, each comfortably seating up to six passengers for a 12-minute ride high above the San Francisco waterfront.
We visited the attraction during the off-season, arriving shortly after it opened, and were fortunate enough to have an entire gondola to ourselves. With clear blue skies and brilliant sunshine, the panoramic views stretched for miles in every direction. In the distance, we could even hear the playful barks and grunts of Pier 39’s famous sea lions.
Private VIP Gondola Experience
SkyStar also offers a Private VIP Gondola Experience. Skip the line and enjoy an extended 20-minute ride in the VIP Gondola with leather seats and hardwood floors. Minimum of 2 and a maximum of 5 guests.
This makes a perfect setting for a romantic date, a special occasion (like popping the question), or a fun sightseeing experience.
Family-Friendly Attraction
Originally constructed to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Golden Gate Park in 2020 (where it became a temporary attraction), the ferris wheel was so popular, it was relocated to Fisherman’s Wharf.
SkyStar is a fun experience for everyone – families, couples, and solo adventurers seeking a serene moment above the city. Souvenir pictures are available for purchase at the end of the ride.
