Stonehenge, Windsor Castle and Bath Day Trip from London

Home » Blog » Stonehenge, Windsor Castle and Bath Day Trip from London

If you’re a history buff, you won’t want to miss a visit to Stonehenge, Windsor Castle and Bath during your next trip to London. Take a FUN Guided Day Trip to three of England’s most iconic and popular destinations (all in one day) and see for yourself what makes each of them so magical.

Travel by air-conditioned luxury coach from London to Windsor Castle. Enjoy touring the world’s most famous castle. Next stop Stonehenge, a prehistoric stone monument that remains one of the great mysteries of the world. Continue on to Bath and explore England’s most beautiful Georgian city and ancient Roman Baths. All in all, a fun full-day adventure with memories that will last you a lifetime.

Windsor Castle

Visit the most famous castle in the world. Windsor Castle is also the world’s largest and oldest occupied castle (home of the Royal Family for 900 years). Built by William the Conqueror, the Castle looks out over the countryside and Windsor Great Park. Windsor Castle is one of The Queen’s official residences. Its rooms are furnished with priceless works of art from the Royal Collection. During your visit to Windsor Castle, see lavish State Apartments, St. George’s Chapel –  and if you time your visit right, the Changing of the Guard.

Who knows… you might get lucky and see the Queen or another member of the Royal Family. That’s exactly what happened to our cousin from New York who was visiting Windsor Castle several years ago. His timing was perfect – he saw the Queen and Prince Charles as they were being driven out of the castle. So… you never know – keep a lookout for Prince William, Catherine (Duchess of Cambridge) aka Kate Middleton, Prince George and Princess Charlotte!

Stonehenge

Stonehenge is one of the most mystical and awe-inspiring sights in England... if not in the world. The ancient stone monument is over 5,000 years old. We take trips back to London (from San Francisco) on a regular basis (I was born and raised there, my family live there, and we were married there) – and our visit to Stonehenge rates right up there as being one of the most special. So many questions remain. Who built Stonehenge… and Why? What’s its purpose? Wander around the site at your leisure and stop by the state-of-the-art visitors center to view exhibits (including a  360-degree virtual display that simulates the experience of standing within the stone circle) and learn more about the history of Stonehenge.

Stonehenge is a popular destination any time of the year, but especially during the Summer Solstice (sunrise on June 21st) and Winter Solstice (sunset on December 21st or 22nd) when visitors from around the world gather to watch the sun rise or set in perfect alignment above the stones. Truly a celestial event.

One of the most popular Stonehenge tours is the Stonehenge Private Viewing, Bath and Lacock Day Trip from London. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to step inside the “inner circle of stones” during sunrise or sunset viewings.

Bath

Bath is one of the most charming cities in England, famous for its elegant Georgian architecture and magnificent Roman Baths – the best preserved Roman spa from the ancient world. Keep your eyes open for Crop Circles along the route from Stonehenge to Bath – we passed one during one of our visits. See Bath Abbey and the much-photographed Pulteney Bridge that crosses the River Avon. It was modeled on the Ponte Vecchio in Florence.

Guided Tour

A Guided Tour to Stonehenge, Windsor Castle and Bath is a great way to see these famous sites – you don’t have to hassle with driving (on the left side of very small windy roads) or navigating the way in a foreign country. Just sit back and relax in your first-class luxury coach as you take in the magnificent English countryside. Knowledgeable guides provide entertaining commentary along the way. Your Day Trip includes entrance to Windsor Castle, Stonehenge and Bath’s Roman Baths and Pump Rooms.

Have a wonderful trip! If you have time after your visit, we’d love to hear about your adventures across the pond.
