1. San Francisco, CA
It’s no secret that San Francisco is one of the most beautiful and romantic cities in the world. It’s also a top foodie destination. We may be a teeny bit biased because we live here, but it is really is a very special place. Whisk your honey away on a scenic twilight bay cruise with the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz and the city skyline as your backdrop. Explore North Beach and its outdoor cafes, a perfect spot for a cappuccino and espresso. Enjoy a romantic Italian dinner, then take your honey to see Beach Blanket Babylon, a hilarious, one-of-a-kind, only-in-San Francisco show featuring song, dance and comedy – it’s so good, we’ve seen it four times! Visit Fisherman’s Wharf and feast on San Francisco’s famous sourdough bread and fresh Dungeness Crab. For a romantic setting overlooking the ocean, head over to the Cliff House for cocktails and dinner as the sun sets over the Pacific. If you have time, take a fun day trip along California’s spectacular coastline and visit Monterey and Carmel – both offer a truly romantic setting for Valentine’s Day.
2. Napa Valley, CA
Visit picturesque Napa Valley and enjoy a fun weekend of wine-tasting and luxurious spa treatments. Yountville is one of our favorite places to visit in wine country – it’s also one of the nation’s most popular culinary destinations. If you really feel like splurging, treat your honey to a romantic dinner at the world-renowned French Laundry for an amazing dining experience. Hop aboard the famous Napa Valley Wine Train and enjoy scenic vineyard views as you sip fine wines and dine on a multi-course gourmet lunch. Napa Valley also has incredible spas where you can relax and rejuvenate. Surprise your honey with a couple’s massage or private spa treatment before indulging in a romantic dinner.
3. New York City, NY
If you’ve ever been to New York City, you know there’s no place like it in the world. It has that special magnetism, excitement and energy that makes it unique. What better place to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your honey. Enjoy a romantic dinner (no matter what type of food you fancy, NYC has it!) and see a Broadway Show. Take a scenic helicopter tour over Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. If you’re dating and looking for a place to propose, here are a few places to pop the question – at the top of Empire State Building, Top of the Rock Observation Deck at Rockefeller Center, on a scenic Manhattan Island Cruise with the illuminated NYC skyline as your backdrop, or on a Private Horse & Carriage ride through Central Park (blankets are provided to keep you both warm). Whatever you do for Valentine’s Day, it’s sure to be memorable in NYC!

London’s heritage, with its pomp and pageantry, makes it one of the most charming and romantic places in the world. Visit the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey and St. Paul’s Cathedral. Go to one of London’s spectacular museums (most are free) – I like the V&A (Victoria & Albert) and Barry’s favorites are the London Science Museum and the historical Churchill War Rooms. Treat your honey to Afternoon Tea and chocolates at Harrod’s. Enjoy a romantic dinner and see a West End Show. Cruise down the River Thames at night. Take an evening ride on the London Eye (the largest ferris wheel in Europe) and get a bird’s eye view of the city. 7. Venice, Italy
We have a soft spot for Venice – we honeymooned there. It’s truly magical and without doubt one of the most romantic places in the world. Just ask George and Amal Clooney! What better place to pop the question or honeymoon than on a romantic Valentine’s Day gondola ride along the city’s scenic canals as you float past Venice’s beautiful palaces and bridges. Be sure to kiss under the Bridge of Sighs – legend has it that if you kiss on a gondola at sunset, you will be assured eternal love. Guess there must be something to it because we kissed there on our honeymoon and have been happily married for over 30 years.
8. Amsterdam, Netherlands
Amsterdam, often referred to as “Venice of the North,” is famous for its picturesque canals, arch bridges, classic architecture, art museums and tulip gardens. February (low season) is a wonderful month to visit Amsterdam – you can see all its popular museums and attractions without the hassle of all the crowds.
