If you’re looking for a classic British experience steeped in tradition and elegance, you can’t go wrong with Afternoon Tea at Cliveden House. This historic country estate, nestled in the stunning countryside of Buckinghamshire, offers a chic and sophisticated ambiance. Enjoy the traditional ritual of Afternoon Tea while taking in the spectacular views of Cliveden’s manicured gardens. It’s a perfect setting for celebrating a special occasion with your loved ones and indulging in a luxurious afternoon. And that’s exactly what we did during our latest visit across the pond.
Magnificent Garden Views
We couldn’t have asked for a better table to enjoy our Afternoon Tea. Cliveden’s elegant Dining Room features large picture windows overlooking the estate’s magnificent gardens and the River Thames in the distance.
Exquisite Teas and Champagne
The menu features a selection of exquisite teas, ranging from classic blends to more exotic varieties. I opted for the Jasmine Green Tea and it was delightful. The teas are served in individual bone china teapots, accompanied by a three-tier plate stand showcasing a delectable array of sweet and savory treats.
Cliveden House also offers a Champagne Afternoon Tea, where guests can enjoy a glass of bubbly alongside their tea and treats. Cheers!

Dainty Finger Sandwiches
Cliveden’s menu changes seasonally to take advantage of the freshest ingredients. Enjoy a variety of delicate finger sandwiches, including:
- Smoked Salmon and Dill, topped with Caviar
- Cream Cheese and Cucumber
- Roast Beef with Horseradish and Rocket (Arugula)
- Egg Mayonnaise and Watercress
- Coronation Curried Chicken in a soft roll
- Savory Pastry Puffs and Tartlets
Warm Freshly-Baked Scones
Of course, no Afternoon Tea would be complete without warm freshly-baked scones, served with luscious Devonshire clotted cream and homemade strawberry jam. Cliveden’s plain and fruit scones are a true delight and absolutely delicious.
Decadent Desserts
For those of you with a sweet tooth, the dessert selection is sure to impress. From delicate macarons and mini éclairs, to more indulgent treats like chocolate truffles and fruit tarts, there’s something for everyone.
