Tony's Napoletana Pizza, North Beach, SF

Pizza heaven in North Beach, San Francisco – Tony’s Pizza Napoletana and NEW “To-Go” Pizza Joint

Everyone knows that San Francisco is a foodies paradise. And now we’ve found our pizza heaven. It has four things going for it – great food, friendly service, good prices… and location, location, location! Tony’s Pizza Napoletana is located right in the heart of North Beach, one of our favorite areas of the city.

Tony’s Pizza Napoletana

The popular neighborhood restaurant serves amazing pizzas, pastas and other Italian specialties. Owner (and 9-time World Pizza Champion) Tony Gemignani is a true Pizzaiolo. He’s won numerous awards, including “Best Pizza Margherita” at the World Pizza Cup in Naples, Italy in 2007. It’s no surprise that the Margherita is one of the restaurant’s most popular pizzas. They only make 73 per day (so get to the restaurant early before they sell out). It’s definitely one of our favorite pizzas in San Francisco!

Tony’s offers several styles of pizza which include Classic American, Italian, Sicilian, Neopolitan — even Organic! The Spaghetti and Meatballs are some of the best we’ve tasted – sure wish we had the recipe for their marinara sauce (we could eat it by the bowlful)! And the Deep-Fried String Beans (tossed with garlic and olive oil) is amazingly light and flavorful – bet you’ll finish the whole bowl! You can also enjoy a variety of Fresh Salads (we like the Gorgonzola Con Mele).

Hey… everything is good, but it’s the pizzas that keep us coming back for more!

Tony’s Coal Fired Pizza & Slice House

And just last month, Tony opened his “to-go” Pizza Joint, Tony’s Coal Fired Pizza & Slice House, right next door to his restaurant. Now you can get all your favorite coal-fired New York-style Pizzas, New York Deli and Italian Specialties and Sandwiches “To-Go.” There’s limited seating inside and a few tables outside if you want to grab a quick bite and eat on the spot. Tony’s Coal Fired Pizza is the only pizzeria with a 1,000-degree coal-fired oven in San Francisco… and Northern California – a typical pizza oven is only 500 degrees. The oven makes all the difference – the pizza crust just tastes better when baked at a higher temperature. The Coal-Fired Pizzas are killer – our favorite is the thin-crust Original Tomato Pie w/Cheese and Basil (pictured above) – it’s sooooo good! Stop by and taste for yourself.

Buon Appetito!
