Thanksgiving Weekend in New York City is a very special time of year. There are SO many fun things to do and see in the “city that never sleeps.”
Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
What better way to kick-off Thanksgiving than by watching the world-famous Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade – either in person, along the parade route, or on TV in the comfort of your home or hotel. If you’ve never seen the parade live, it’s worth doing at least once, especially if you don’t mind large crowds. It truly is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Check local TV listings if you’re watching the parade at home or with family and friends. We look forward to watching it on TV every year. It’s the next best thing to actually being there.
Radio City Christmas Spectacular
Shows are always fun and the fabulous “Radio City Christmas Spectacular” is (in our opinion) the BEST Holiday Show in New York. And it’s our favorite show ever! The popular holiday musical includes our all-time favorite Rockettes’ performance – the “Parade of the Wooden Soldiers”. Be sure to book well in advance; it’s very popular with locals and tourists alike and sells out every year.
During the Holiday Season, the live animals that appear in the Christmas Spectacular’s Nativity scene – including camels and donkeys – are taken outside and walked around the block (Rockefeller Center) daily at 7am. Even if you’re not an early riser, you may want to check this out. It’s not every day that you can see a camel in NY!
Proposing at Top of the Rock
New York City is one of the most romantic cities in the world. If you’re looking for a memorable place to “pop the question,” consider the “Top of the Rock” Observation Deck at Rockefeller Center. It’s especially romantic during sunset or after dark, under the twinkling stars. The views from 70 stories above the city are breathtaking. It’s a great place to propose.
Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides
Speaking of romance, snuggle up to your honey on a romantic Horse-Drawn Carriage Ride thru’ Central Park. Blankets are provided during winter months to keep you warm and toasty.
